M A M M O N

Wealth regarded as an evil influence or false object of worship and devotion.

This is a test scene shot during my Graduate Diploma at AFTRS, inspired partly by a lecture we attended on Magical Realism.

Given that I had and amazing Cinematographer and Designer to work with I decided to create a detailed and lavish world within to set the action.

My goal was to work with the cast and crew to reveal the message of the film through subtext rather than narrative.

This is a “Director’s Cut” of the film responding to feedback after the film was submitted for grading.

I like this film because it demonstrates my ability to bring together a top flight crew to produce a visually stunning piece, work on extremely tight deadlines, complex shot lists, and lavish design.

Synopsys

Eric Bateman needs cash, a lot of it, and he needs it now.

What he needs to buy with it is not only difficult to procure but highly illegal.

Only enigmatic club owner Ruby seems to be able to deliver but at what cost?

So many people sell their souls to borrow money for things that they don’t want to show off to people who they don’t care about.

What would happen if someone sold their soul for a completely selfless purpose?

What would motivate you to sell your soul?

These are the primary themes of the screenplay and drive the narrative.
